When a student gets suspended for fighting or such they get suspended from school for 10 days. I believe that it is a bad thing to do that. Why keep the student out of school? That is what they most likely want anyways. Half of the time the students that get suspended at my school are ones that are behind in classes, and getting suspended is exactly what they want. I think they should be kept in school, but they should sit stay in ISS (In School Suspension).
When they are in ISS they are able to get help if they need it from the teachers. Keeping them in ISS keeps them from not doing anything at home. I think when the student is at home for 10 days they will chose not to do anything. I have had many friends that have been suspended and sent home. I ask them what they do during the day and the response I heard the most was sleep. Then when they come back to school they are behind in school work. Keeping them in ISS could be a good thing. They would not be allowed to sleep and they would have to get their school work done. If they needed help they could visit the teacher and get help on the assignment.
